About RPL

Audisankara College of Engineering and Technology (Autonomous) has set to partner with Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the year 2024; an initiative under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) designed to test, certify, and acknowledge individuals' skills and knowledge gained through experiential learning, work experience, or prior training. Collaboration with RPL provides numerous benefits to a diverse set of stakeholders, including educational institutions, organizations, and individuals. RPL allows individuals to obtain certification for skills acquired via practical experience, thereby increasing their employability.

Key Features of RPL:
  1. Assessment of Existing Skills:
    • RPL assesses individuals based on their existing knowledge and experience in a specific trade or profession.
    • The assessment includes theoretical and practical tests, which are conducted by accredited agencies under NSDC.
  2. Certification:
    • Upon successfully completing the assessment, candidates are awarded an industry-recognized certificate, making their skills formal and official.
    • The certificate is often issued by Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) under NSDC and recognized across industries.
  3. Improving Employability:
    • Many workers in sectors such as construction, retail, agriculture, and manufacturing possess strong practical skills but lack formal recognition.
    • RPL certification increases their chances of securing better-paying jobs, promotions, or opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
  4. Gap Training:
    • If an individual does not meet the required skill standards, they may undergo bridge training or short-term courses to fill any gaps before receiving their certification.
  5. Target Sectors:
    • RPL primarily focuses on workers in the unorganized sectors of the economy, which employ a significant portion of India's workforce. Common sectors include construction, textiles, automotive, healthcare, agriculture, and retail.
  6. Government and Industry Collaboration:
    • RPL is conducted in collaboration with industries, Sector Skill Councils, and various government programs. This ensures that the certifications align with industry requirements and standards.
